Quickie Summertime Headband

I got the idea for this style of headband from Crochet Monkey's Patterns.

I altered the pattern slightly, but since it wasn't my idea and looks exactly like hers, I cannot take credit for it. But here are my directions:

Ch 80.

Sc into first ch in row. Sc in next 9.

Ch 70. Sc into first ch in row. Sc in next 9.

Ch 70. Sc into first ch in row. Fasten off and weave in ends.

You can choose to add a row or two more if you want.

Cardinals #3

Well, the third installment of the cardinal saga is here.

Before the workers began working on the roof, the cardinals were gone. Unfortunately, one didn't get away. I am guessing it fell out of the nest and the dogs just happened to be outside at that time, so Raiden got one. Such is the way it goes.

Since we only saw one baby bird near the bush on the ground, we are assuming that the other two got away and are living happily somewhere else. Even the mom and dad are gone.

Good Luck and glad to have helped you start your cardinal family!

Shortly after that we chopped down that ugly bush. This is all that remains:

My Recycled Bag©

Thank you to everyone who has saved and brought me their plastic bags. I have sooo many, I will be able to make a couple different colored ones.

I have now completed my own pattern for the recycled grocery bag. Or what I should say is that I have completed the bag. The pattern is not written out very well yet. I did my best. I wanted something with a tight weave, that would lay flat in the car when not in use and be continuously crocheted. Here is a diagram of how I made the bag:

My Recycled Bag

I used an M Hook for this project.

I used "plarn". It can be any color (tutorial to make "plarn" is here: Marlo's Crochet Corner).

For my bag, I made 45 sc across. The entire piece was done in single crochet to get a tight weave.

Once the height of the bag is reached, sc 30, ch 1, turn. Repeat until bottom of bag is desired size.

Then ch (I think) 13 st, ch 1 more, turn. Sc rows until this side is the same as the first.

To put the bag together, you will only have two sides (and sides on the bottom) to hook together.

Add your desired handles.

Go shopping and enjoy.

Note: I have only made one bag with this pattern and didn't write it all down like I should have. So, my directions might be a little murky. If you make this and have any problems, please contact me. I plan to make another one to test it out and clarify the directions, but until that time, it is as clear as it is going to get right now!! I guess you could still call it a work in progress.

Update! The cardinals have stayed:

Here is the dad in the yard with a couple of other birds:

Cardinals #1

I have noticed since the weather is starting to get nice, we have a pair of cardinals hanging around. They are pretty. I just figured they were lost. We have big dogs that bark at everything and scare everything away.

But, this morning, I noticed that the female is making a nest. In the tree right outside our back door of the garage. Right where the dogs go in and out. Right where we go in and out when working on the yard. In our ugly bush:

The female was carrying twigs and paper she found into the bush. Hopefully they will stay.

New Job

Well, I have been working for a couple of weeks with the recruiter and branch manager of Keybank. I have been waiting for them to get on with the process hoping I would get to the next step and hopefully get a job.

And, a couple of weeks ago, I got an email from Keybank. Next step complete.

A couple days after that, got a call to set up an interview. Next step complete.

Had the interview (I thought I did well) and had to W-A-I-T over the weekend to hear what to do next.

The following week, I spoke to them again. They extended an offer to me! I received a couple emails with information on what to do next (got to give a sample and get fingerprinted) and my start date is at the end of MAY!

I am so happy! I can't wait to start! I finally found a job! YAY!

Hi-Five Dishtowel

I like the Knit One Crochet Too Recycled Cotton yarn for this project. It is not too heavy for a "dishtowel".
I also like the summer colors.
This color is Valencia.
The pattern for this dishtowel is here.
I used an F hook.

March 2009 Crochetlist Dishcloth Exchange

Received this from my Partner for March, Robin. She also sent a nice letter telling me about her family. They sound wonderful!

My furbabies sniffed it for quite awhile, but eventually approved.

Even though this is a dishcloth exchange, it matches my bathroom better than my kitchen, which is fine. I can always use a nice facecloth too!!

Thank you so much Robin!
